“Relume” is a structured improvisation of butoh dance and gong. Clashings, frictions, and deep simmers in relating, to question the personal, relational, and collective fires. Represents how a person in conflict is battling their own stories and issues in parallel.
The dance and music start with opposing scores in archetypes represented by elements in nature and varying speeds, distances, and rhythms. Movements and sounds are processed alone in parallel, until an influence from the other is felt. Then the senses from the sounds are overlaid into the ongoing score of the dance, and senses of the movements are overlaid into the ongoing score of the music. In one score, the inner worlds of being silenced and in parallel navigating boundaries are represented by muddy waters and sparking fire, in conversation and process through dance and music.
